3-4-1 Trio announces the release of their self-titled album, "Simply 3-4-1" at its Feb. 5 concert. Mosinee United Methodist Church, 607 13th St., is hosting the event which is free and open to the public. The concert begins at 6:30 pm.
For the past six years, the 3-4-1 Trio has performed at various festivals, concerts, churches and private events. The three area residents: Jennifer Johnson of Mosinee, Kay Pickar of Rothschild, and Wausau resident Janice Grimes especially enjoy singing at hospitals, hospice settings and nursing homes. This past spring the group celebrated its 75th concert, singing at the National Day of Prayer Breakfast in Wausau.
In 2008, the 3-4-1 Trio participated in the National Quartet Convention talent search competition in Louisville, Ky. They were the only all women's trio and came in sixth. In June 2010, 3-4-1 was invited to Nashville to perform at an international a cappella singing festival sponsored by Keith Lancaster, executive producer of the original group called, Acappella. While at the concert, they met Randy Lamp, manager of Acappella Ministries, who encouraged them to record. With Lamp's financial support, the recording assistance of Melissa Lancaster, Keith's daughter, and financial support of many friends and fans, the trio's very first CD called, "Simply 3-4-1," became possible.
"Having a CD is in line with our mission to share the gospel and encourage worship," said Johnson, founder of the group. "God has truly blessed us."
"Simply 3-4-1" will be available through iTunes, CDbaby, and 341trio.com starting on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 6.
Although the concert is free, a special offering will be taken for the church's youth ministry.
"Our youth are attending the international Youth2011 conference held in Indiana this summer," said Pastor Park Hunter. "We're trying to help them as much as possible." The youth also will sell refreshments cafe-style during the performance. The church's own praise band will open and close the concert.
