Jennifer and Janice sang together on multiple
occasions at Highland Community Church over the past 5 years.
Their hope was to form a solid group that would sing out in the
community. After going through 2 other sopranos, they finally
found Kay. 341 was established in May of 2004. Kay had
answered a blind classified ad in the Wausau Daily Herald. The
funny thing is that neither Jennifer or Janice knew that Kay also
went to Highland and Janice was even singing with her in a church
musical!!
341 rehearsed every Wednesday night
from 8-11ish for the first several months. In August 2004,
they had their first concert at Wausau Manor (in the cafeteria).
Since then, they have sang at many nursing homes, hospitals, and
church group events/festivals. Because family is very important to
them, now they only practice 2 Monday's a month from 7-9ish and have
limited their concerts to 1 per month.
In the spring of 2006, 341 purchased
their first mini sound system(1 board, 1 speaker, 3 mics).
They tried to operate it; however failed miserably. Wes and
Brian from Highland Community have volunteered their time to load,
setup and run our sound system. We have recently had the
opportunity to borrow a professional system that makes us sound much
better than we actually are. Finally in 2008, we purchased a
new due speaker system that sounds great.
341's mission is to share God's
Word, encourage worship, and bring joy to others through God's
Spirit.
341 has the full support of their
wonderful spouses! They hold down the fort during practices
and concerts. They bring nursing babies to concert times.
They bring extension cords when they are forgotten. They
listen to the same songs over and over. Without their support
and encouragement, 341 would not exist. Thank God for Paul,
Clay, and Tony.
